her thoughts during all of this? maaaaan. when she's taking toga down, it's pretty much just her talking herself through every move she makes, aka boring badass things. when toga is calling her the hell out, though, she's definitely thinking about DEKU! how he's amazing, how she wants to be just as good as he is, but that doesn't mean she wants to BE him... right? right! he's just so much better than her at everything! she wants to be LIKE him! she wants to be as good and as useful as he is, because she's not nearly as good at anything, etc etc etc
and then the memory ends when gets stabbed in the leg!
the memory itself is pretty self explanatory? the main thoughts are just typical kid ones: half-formed sentences about how much she loves her parents, how sad she feels when she sees how tired they are, how she thinks heroes are COOL but her parents are WAY COOLER, etc.
The memory opens in a whirl of smoke and debris. Ochako, panting, crouches low to the ground, glaring back at the scowling punk across from her.
I just have to stay low, she thinks, taking a second to wipe the sweat from her eyes. A few more explosions and I should have everything I—
"Hey!"
The shout comes from somewhere in the stands, and she instinctively glances over to the section she believes it came from. She's too far away to tell who, exactly, is causing this scene, but his voice is loud enough for her to hear as he continues.
"Do you mean to be a hero with conduct like that? If there's such a huge difference in your abilities, just blow her out of bounds already! How dare you toy with a girl like that?"
There's a split-second of silence before countless other people chime in to agree with him. "Yeah, that's right! Quit drawing this out," some yell, while others hurl insults down at her opponent. Soon it's hard to make out much of anything over the loud chorus of boos, and she's suddenly unsure of what to do.
But I... I can do this! They don't really think I'm that weak, do they? He's strong, I know, but I can keep up! I am keeping up! So why do so many people think that I can't?
She looks back at the boy, watches him grit his teeth in annoyance, before the intercom cuts through the angry chatter.
"Who just said he's toying with her? You a Pro? How many years?" That sharp voice is instantly familiar, and Ochako straightens up as it continues. "If you said that in your right mind, then there's no reason for you to keep watching. Do us all a favor and go home! In fact, you ought to keep watching the fight at a career turn-over site. He clearly recognizes the strength of an opponent who's come this far, and he is on guard as a result. It's because he's doing everything in his power to win that he's refusing to let his guard down."
The crowd falls silently, thoroughly chastened by such a harsh critique, and Ochako... takes a deep breath.
Thank you, Aizawa-sensei. I know that I can do this. And—
"Thank you, Bakugou-kun," she says, meeting his gaze as she brings her hands together in front of her. "Thank you for not letting your guard down."
it's pretty self explanatory, i guess! thank goodness her thoughts are already in this scene 🙏
anyone seeing this memory will definitely get the impression that she thinks this green-haired kid, aka deku, is WAY better at everything than she is! she obviously looks up to him... and thinks that she has a long ways to go before she's even half as good as he is...
Right off the bat, Minato will be able to tell that this memory... isn't a pleasant one. Ochako is standing in the middle of what appears to be a collapsed building, looking back at what is unmistakably a giant dragon. It's holding something—a person?—against the ground with one claw as it swivels its head toward Ochako and yells:
"Go on ahead, Uravity! Get Nighteye to the ambulance! Keep him stable and avoid moving the spike in his stomach! Now go!"
And the focus of this memory suddenly shifts! Now Ochako is looking down at the tall, gangly man she's holding bridal-style, her eyes sweeping from his pale face to the gaping wound in his stomach.
Keep him steady, keep him still. You can do this, girl! You can save him! You can help, just like Deku!
Taking a deep breath, Ochako activates her quirk and pushes herself straight off the ground. The unconscious man stirs in her arms, a fresh line of blood running down his chin as he weakly coughs, and Ochako's faux-confident line of thoughts gives way to one phrase desperately repeated over and over:
So this is actually... a pretty simple memory? She's just, you know, chillin in her dorm room at night, watching television, when her stomach suddenly grumbles very, very loudly. She's hungry! INCREDIBLY hungry, actually, and as she reaches down to place a hand on her belly, her thoughts are as follows:
When's the last time I ate? Was it lunch? Well, I guess it doesn't matter... it's way too late to go to the cafeteria now, and I can't go buy snacks. I've already spent enough money this month as it is! Dad hasn't landed a contract in a while, and Mom can't stretch things out forever, so... I should make sure I'm spending as little as I can. I don't want to make things any harder on them...
Sighing, she looks over at the half-full jug of green tea sitting on the table beside her.
I could just put more water in the tea? It would last longer that way... and water's free, so I can drink as much of it as I want! And then, when I'm full, I'll just go to bed! If I'm sleeping, there's no way I can spend money!
Her stomach grumbles one last time, but she forces herself to ignore it as she reaches for the jug.
this is my fav memory because i get to link a cLIP!!
so... this is basically the entire memory, thoughts included! nice.
the main thoughts people will be able to hear will sound something like this:
This is no good... we're gonna be captured! Think! In a pinch like this... at a time like this, what would Deku do? Think, girl, THINK! - pulled from here! so this train of thought is repeated over and over again, until aoyama asks if she likes deku; then her mind goes blank, and she doesn't think about anything other than how EMBARRASSED SHE IS until she collides with 13 and automatically uses the moves she learned from gunhead.
This sappy memory starts simply enough! Ochako is sitting at her desk in her familiar room, hurriedly writing what looks like... a list? A very long list, full of important things like, "You ALWAYS know how to make me laugh," and, "You're super comfy to fall asleep on!" Weird, huh? And that's not all—Ochako's thoughts are also centered around similar things:
What should I put next? Maybe... something about how much I like his laugh! Or maybe that's too boring? Everyone likes everyone's laugh... so maybe I should say that I think he's cute when he laughs? But I already put that I think he's handsome...
It looks like Maya is going to be stuck in this list-making memory forever, until the door to Ochako's room suddenly bangs open... which sends both Ochako and her papers hurtling to the floor. Excellent. But don't worry! Someone quickly helps her up, and that person is none other than the person who caused this mess in the first place: Okuyasu. Does Okuyasu look ten times more handsome in Ochako's memory than he does in real life? Of course he does. Is Ochako thinking about silly, romantic things as he peers down at her and gently squishes her cheeks together? Of course she is.
He's going to see the list, so I should just tell him how I feel! I really, really want to! Come on, girl... just think of the right way to say it...
But she... hesitates instead, and that is when Okuyasu takes a breath and says the best sentence she's heard in this wild and crazy place:
"I got it, for real, listen up— I love you."
He loves me? Really? He does?
It's just those three words, repeated over and over again in her mind, until she suddenly jumps up to hug him.
Ochako glances down at her bruise-covered arms before straightening up to look at the boy standing directly across the platform . Cool and calm—that's how her voice sounds, but her thoughts reveal an almost smug determination.
This is it, girl! You've got him right where you want him, so let him have it!
"Thank you," she repeats, bringing her hands together in front of her, "for not letting your guard down."
Swiftly pressing her fingertips together, Ochako releases her quirk—and takes a second to note that surprised expression on the boy's face as he glances up to see a sky full of debris come crashing down. But there's no time to waste! As he continues staring up at the sky, she sprints toward him, making sure to stay as low to the ground as possible.
With this much rubble, no matter if he tries to dodge or blast them, it'll definitely open him up to another attack! In that instant I'll close in on him with my finishing move! This is it! I'm gonna win, and advance just like Deku!
But at that moment, the boy raises his hand above his head—and with a deafening explosion, a flash of bright light, the memory abruptly ends.
It's immediately obvious that Ochako is standing in the very front of a Japanese grocery store. She's glancing around at the different aisles full of food, nervously plucking at the strap of her purse, when she hears laughter behind her; turning, she forces herself to relax as she smiles back at the twogirls pushing a cart her way.
"Do you already know what you'd like, Uraraka-san?" the girl with the ponytail asks, looking much too excited about a simple shopping trip. "Or shall we go down every aisle? I've never been in a store like this before!"
I guess rich people really do have people to do their shopping for them, Ochako thinks as she turns and gestures for her friends to follow her. "Really? That means we definitely have to go down every aisle! And I still have to make up my mind, anyway."
She can hear them chatting along behind her, but she's too lost in her own thoughts to catch anything specific.
Is anything on sale? I don't want to be the only person not bringing something to movie night, but I've already spent enough money this month! Mom and Dad haven't landed a construction contract in so long... the bills have to be piling up by now...
Wandering over to a nearby bin, she picks up a bag of chips and frowns down at them.
These aren't that expensive. Every yen counts, but—
"Ochako-chan? Is that the type of snack you like?"
Startled, Ochako turns to look at the (frog-like) girl standing by her elbow. "I'm... not sure," she says slowly, giving the chips one last look before carefully placing them back with the others. "B-But you know, Tsuyu-chan, I'm not even that hungry! Maybe I'll just make some tea instead."
Water is free! I'll just add a ton of it to the tea I already have, so... don't worry, girl! Just because everyone else is eating doesn't mean that you have to eat, too. There's nothing embarrassing about drinking tea! Everything is totally fine!
And on that obviously embarrassing note, the memory... ends.
Ochako—or, well, the person viewing this memory—is walking down the sidewalk of what looks like a normal, everyday street. Swinging a small tote of groceries by her side, she glances around at the nearby apartment buildings before turning her attention to the beautifully bright blue sky.
Let's see, she thinks. For lunch today, something... cheap? Uh... maybe I should just stick with rice cakes. I don't want to spend too much money if I can help it...
Approaching one of the apartment buildings, she quickly climbs the steps, humming quietly to herself, before she reaches out to grab the handle of a door—and instantly freezes.
Huh? She jiggles the handle, confused, before cautiously throwing the door open. It's not locked?
She takes a step into the shadowy hallway, glancing left and right. Nothing is there? At first, anyway! Soon, though, two dark figures appear at the end of the hallway—and rush right toward her!
"Ochakoooooo!"
I'm gonna be killed!
She instantly screams and throws up an arm, too scared to move... until both people finally step into the light.
The memory ends right after that charming exchange, with Ochako's thoughts full of nothing but love and appreciation for her beloved parents!
Ochako is sitting at a table in the middle of a locker room, glancing down at the pink phone that's vibrating in her hand. A word—Dad—flashes across the screen, but she presses a button on the side to silence it. Not now, she thinks. Not while he's here.
"Uraraka-san, are you... okay?"
She looks back up at the familiar, green-haired boy standing beside her, forcing herself to smile. "I'm fine," she says brightly, swinging one arm through the air. "Even I'm surprised how fine I am! But, Deku-kun..."
There's a pause as she looks back down at the table, thinking of how, exactly, to put this. "Deku-kun, you always look straight ahead! And because I lost, I... can't stand to lose again."
She takes a breath, preparing to say more, but an announcement suddenly buzzes over the intercom. "The second round will begin shortly!"
"W-Well, that's me," Deku says, taking a step toward the door, and Ochako practically jumps out of her seat. Already?
"Ah! I-I'm sorry, Deku-kun! Because of me, you weren't able to prepare at all!" She stretches a hand out toward him, almost like she wants to pat him on the shoulder, before she draws it back to her side. "I'll watch, okay? So do your best!"
She stays where she is as he walks out of the room, making sure to keep a smile on her face as he closes the door, but then... she glances back down at the phone in her hand. I should call him back, she thinks, before he starts to worry. And after pushing a few buttons and holding the phone to hear, a very familiar voice pops onto the other line.
"Ochako?"
"Sorry about dropping the call, Dad."
"Nah," her father replies, voice full of warmth. "I'm sorry for botherin' ya when you're busy, hon. But we watched you on TV! You were incredible, ya know? You were so close!"
"I-It wasn't close, and it wasn't incredible." She pauses for a moment, unhappy with how thick her voice sounds. "At the end I panicked way too much... and I didn't have a strategy for the breakthrough..."
There's silence as her father considers her words, and then, softly: "Well, I can't say I really get any of that difficult soundin' stuff, but just 'cause ya lost doesn't mean your path's closed off, does it? Ya still have next year."
"But don't you understand, Dad?" She's crying now, tears rolling down her cheeks, and she hiccups as she sucks in a deep breath. "I've gotta do good by you two, as soon as I—"
"I'm tellin' ya, Ochako... it's fine. There's no rush." He patiently waits for her to finish sniffling, and then, gently: "I know my sweet, kind girl will definitely become a great hero."
It's the obvious love in his voice that causes her to really, truly break down. Ochako brings her free hand to her eyes, sobs racking her shoulders as her father continues to tell her how proud he is—and with that, the memory ends.
The memory opens with Ochako standing, frozen, in middle of what looks like a normal city street. Other teenagers rush past her, screaming, but as an incredibly large shadow falls over her, she glances back just in time to see a giant robot peep over the buildings at her.
I should run, she thinks, oddly calm. I have enough to points to make it through! I shouldn't be here!
And yet, she can't seem to move, even as the giant robot lifts one massive fist... and slams it into the ground behind her.
Black. That's all there is the next few seconds, until she cracks open her eyes to see a cloud of dust and debris swirling around her as she lies on the ground. What... happened? It's a groggy thought, one that's quickly replaced with a much more frantic one: I should move! Now!
As she tries to crawl forward, however, she realizes that she... can't? Something—or someone—is holding tightly to her foot, as she whirls about, eyes wide, before she spots that her foot is simply caught underneath a large chunk of concrete. Stay calm, girl! You just have to make it float, she tells herself, weakly stretching out a hand back behind her. That's all you have to do, so get going! There's no time to waste! You have to make it back to the start before you run out of time! You have to get into this school so you can&mdash'
But her train of thought is cut abruptly short when she hears... screaming. Soon she hones in on a familiar, green-haired boy soaring through the sky; he's going right for the giant robot, and as she sucks in a breath, shocked, he draws back a fast... and slams it directly into the middle of the robot's face. Ah? AH!
He... saved me?
And as she watches his limp form suddenly drop out of the sky, the memory abruptly ends!
